Fall registration opens April 1

It’s almost time for UW-Whitewater students to register for their fall 2024 classes. Your registration time is now available in WINS. To access the fall 2024 course offerings, log into your WINS account and navigate to “Classes & Schedules,” followed by “Class Search and Enroll,” and select “Fall 2024.”
Check your email for important advising information and contact your academic advisor for assistance in selecting fall courses. Freshmen can contact the AAEC office at 262-472-4646 or make use of our drop-in advising hours for direct assistance. Warhawk Drew Best earns state award for leadership

Drew Best, a journalism major from Oshkosh, earned the Student Leadership Award from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association. Best was recognized at the WBA Student Forum last month for earning the award, the organization’s highest student honor.

Kudos to Tanya Mordecai, Intergenerational Technology Services (IGeTS) program coordinator, who won the Whitewater Polar Plunge Chili Cookoff. The Polar Plunge, which benefits Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes, was held at Whitewater Aquatic Center on March 9.
Kudos to the UW-Whitewater club men’s bowling team, one of 16 college men’s teams to qualify for the 2024 United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championships. The national tournament will take place April 17-20 in Jeffersontown, Kentucky. Read more »

Kudos to Taylor Rowerdink, a school psychology Ed.S. student from Watertown, who earned the Elizabeth Lindley Woods Scholarship Award from the Wisconsin School Psychologists Association at the spring convention on March 7-8 in Appleton. The competitive award is presented to the top student among the Wisconsin school psychology programs. She was nominated by Christine Neddenriep, professor of psychology.
Kudos to Amy Stevens, professor of special education, who co-hosted the 11th Special Education Conference and Workshop with Church Teachers’ College in Mandeville, Jamaica, on Jan. 12. The conference, which had 350 attendees, is the premier special education professional development opportunity for Jamaican teachers.
Kudos to K. Praveen Parboteeah, professor of management, whose scholarly research has been cited by more than 10,000 other research works, according to Google Scholar. This means that other researchers are developing, building upon, critiquing or otherwise referencing his work. Parboteeah, chair of the department of management, was a leader in developing the only AACSB-accredited Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) program in Wisconsin.
Kudos to UW-Whitewater’s sports medicine staff, which was recognized during National Athletic Training Month by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. Sports medicine staff members include Steve Hillmer, Honorio Aranda, Emma Kopp, Kelly Louden, and Whitney Williams.
Kudos to Men’s and Women’s Basketball players Aleah Grundahl and Trevon Chislom on being selected to play in the WCBA and NABC All Star Games. The 2 have been recognized for their brilliant seasons on the court.

Warhawk gymnastics headed to national championship meet
|
The UW-Whitewater gymnastics team is set to compete in the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championship this Saturday, March 23, at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. The Warhawks, who are five-time national champions, qualified for the meet after placing second at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship/NCGA West Regional on March 9. Saturday’s meet will begin at 1 p.m. Central Time.

The UW-Whitewater wrestling team tied for 22nd over the weekend at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships in La Crosse. The Warhawks were led by All-Americans Dominik Mallinder and Ethan Pogorzelski, who recorded top-eight finishes at 133 and 141 pounds, respectively.
