Jane Landers, Gertrude Conaway Vanderbilt Professor of History, and Daniel Genkins, Mellon Assistant Professor of History and Digital Humanities, leverage artificial intelligence and computer science techniques to scan through thousands of historical documents to form the Slave Societies Digital Archive, the world’s largest collection of historical records of Africans in the Atlantic World.

Moore wins prestigious literary award

Lorrie Moore, Gertrude Conaway Vanderbilt Professor of English, has won a National Book Critics Circle Award for fiction for her novel I Am Homeless If This Is Not My Home.

María Magdalena Campos-Pons, Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor of Art, has been named the 2024 SEC Faculty Achievement Award winner from Vanderbilt University.
