Puget Sound honored Bill Baarsma ’64, P’93 at this year's Commencement Ceremony, presenting him with an honorary doctorate in recognition of his many years of dedicated service to the people of Tacoma. A native of the City of Destiny, Baarsma has served as mayor of Tacoma, on the faculty at Puget Sound, and as president of the Tacoma Historical Society. At the ceremony, he was recognized for "exemplifying what it means for a Puget Sound graduate to meet the highest tests of democratic citizenship."
