A message from Kathleen Eriksen, President & CEO of the Downtown Tucson Partnership:
2020 was a challenging year for everyone and the Downtown Tucson Partnership (DTP) is grateful for all the support we have received from our many partners in 2020. Our downtown businesses have been an inspiration to the community with their ability to pivot, adapt and innovate. I am proud of the DTP staff for their passionate commitment to Downtown Tucson and for all of their hard work and accomplishments this past year.
With the help of our partners and supporters we were able to provide creative funding programs like the DTP Gift Card Incentive program, which in two short months infused $308,000 directly into downtown businesses.
Through our partnership agreement with Pima County, we awarded nearly $200,000 to businesses through the Outdoor Café and Downtown Rebound grants. A total of 72 grants were awarded. With guidance from the Pima County Health Department, we encouraged a safe reopening of Downtown Tucson through the Ready for You program. 200 banners, 100s of business posters and signage, window vinyl and sidewalk clings welcomed the community back downtown while sharing important health and safety information. Additional dollars were made available for touchless trash compactors, water filling stations, hand sanitizer stations and the tight-wrapping of 158 street trees in white lights.
We launched a new state of the art website, downtowntucson.org which features improved functionality, a modern design and visually stunning content. We also released the new user-friendly Downtown Tucson Gift Card, honored at over 50 downtown businesses.
Collectively we push forward with grit and tenacity, and look forward to the great work we will do together in 2021!

The Faces Behind the Places Making Downtown Great
DTP Board Members, Tom Heath and Zach Yentzer, have started a new initiative to highlight the many businesses that make the 85701 zip code, or downtown, great! Check out the first video in the series with fellow DTP Board Member, Chris Squires of Ten55 Brewing Company.
Downtown COVID Testing Center Update
Starting Monday, Jan. 11, the Downtown Tucson COVID-19 Testing Center will relocate to the northwest corner of 12th Street and 6th Avenue behind the Tucson Electric Power headquarters. Free testing is available for anybody five years of age or older every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (excluding holidays) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those seeking testing must make an appointment ahead of time due to testing demand and limited capacity for social distancing. Appointments can be made online at labfinder.com/paradigm or by calling 855-452-2346.
Park Tucson is providing free 15-minute testing parking on the north side of 12th St. between 6th Ave. and Scott Ave.
Central Business District Community Meetings
Tucson's Mayor and City Council and the Office of Economic Initiatives (ConnectTucson) will host seven virtual meetings in January to engage the community in co-creating a shared vision for the future of the Central Business District (CBD). Arizona statute ARS § 42-6209(c) grants the City of Tucson authority to abate property tax for up to eight years if a property is located within a designated CBD and meets other specific criteria that would improve the property for economic development purposes. The 90-minute meetings will inform the Mayor and Council about the future of the CBD boundaries and requirements for the Government Property Lease Excise Tax (GPLET).
