Greetings family!
We are rapidly coming upon one of my favorite Sundays of the year! Next Sunday, February 6, we will be led in worship by Bethune-Cookman University’s illustrious Concert Chorale. We’ve seen various iterations of this group over the years as they have performed at St. Luke’s and all over the world. From Cuba, to Israel, to former President Barak and First Lady Michelle Obama’s annual Christmas Concert, this group of student vocalists and instrumentalists have upheld the legacy of HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) choral programs. Just last night they performed at the new Stienmetz Hall in the Sacred Music of Duke Ellington, and the world premiere of his famous work, "Black, Brown and Beige." I couldn’t be more excited that they will be with us next week to help kick off Black History Month at St. Luke’s.
I’m surprised that I have made it this far without mentioning that I am a proud alumnus of Bethune-Cookman University. It just so happens that serving as a chapel assistant in my junior year at BCU lead to the opportunity to serve as a summer intern at St. Luke’s. It still blows me away that this all led to me joining St. Luke's clergy team years later. With all of this in mind, I am deeply honored to be delivering a sermon alongside these talented students.
St. Luke’s and BCU are interconnected in so many ways. Several long-time St. Lukers are alumni or have served in various elected positions for the University. We also share a connection of...

Stewardship 2022: More Than Enough

In our society today, we need more time, more sleep, more fun—especially this week in Florida, we needed MORE WARMTH and still, God’s Kingdom tells us when we trust God and trust one another, together, we have More Than Enough of what we need to be God’s Disciples who Reveal God’s Kingdom.
God has provided St. Luke’s everything we need in resources, talent, gifts, passion, and faith to accomplish God’s work of reaching people, connecting them to Jesus, surrounding them with care and connection, and serving others with tangible gifts of stability, security, and help.
This first quarter, we are asking all St. Lukers to complete an Estimate of Giving. By sharing with us your approximate  tithes and offerings for the year, you will help us to be good stewards of St. Luke’s operating expenses.
And this year we have a special challenge for everyone to pray about – Just $5.
Whether you give regularly or have never given before – what would it mean to trust God and one another to do More than Enough with a monthly increase of Just $5.
Each week, we will be sharing what Just $5 can do toward God’s Kingdom ministry through St. Luke’s.
We invite you to pray about your 2022 Estimate of Giving, and what an extra $5 a month would mean for you and could mean for St. Luke’s. Click here if you are ready to fill out an Estimate of Giving, and watch for more information during worship and here in the Weekly Update.
Together with God, we are MORE THAN ENOUGH!
