This past Sunday, we discontinued pre-registration for worship. We also lifted the mask requirement for those who are fully vaccinated. It was great to see so many St. Lukers back in worship and we look forward to more of you joining us throughout the summer.
We find ourselves in a liminal season – a season of transition where we are still serving our congregation in multiple ways on-campus and online. Thank you to those who completed our recent worship survey, your feedback is important, and we were able to glean several key themes from your responses:
- Our data confirms that 9:15 a.m. has been our largest gatherings in worship at St. Luke’s and we have heard your desire for a 9:15 a.m. Traditional worship service. We are working on building the volunteer team (click here to express interest) and waiting for equipment to arrive that would allow us to simultaneously stream two worship services.
- We also recognize the movement of children’s discipleship to spending time in worship with families is statistically proven to help children feel connected with church as young adults, but also the need for children to receive discipleship moments catered to their age and learning style. Being able to meet these two ideas with balance means that holding two styles of worship at 9:15 a.m. helps us reach more children and youth.
In this summer season, as people are starting to return to campus, we will shift on-campus Traditional worship to 9:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary starting Sunday, June 6. On-campus Contemporary worship will also be offered at 9:15 a.m. in Founder’s Hall. We recognize this means adjustments of schedules, as we work to find the right groove for community, discipleship, and deeper engagement of a worshipping congregation that is diverse in its connection of style, time, and place. We appreciate your grace as we explore and discern our next chapters together.
Just a reminder, children are always welcome in worship at St. Luke’s and families can choose to worship with children 11 and under for the entire worship service or until they are dismissed for Worship Enrichment. Families may also drop off children for a full hour of children’s programming up to 10 minutes prior to the start of worship.
We will continue to stream a Contemporary worship service at 9:15 a.m. and a Traditional worship service at 11:00 a.m. on Facebook LIVE.
As we move through the summer and monitor attendance and regularity it will help us make plans for the fall but before we get too far ahead…this weekend is filled with great holiday celebrations on our campus. We kick off the summer vacation with a Summer Splash for children and youth on Saturday, May 29 at 10:00 a.m. (click here to register).
