In this issue: star ratings, study spots, and second shots, oh my!
Week 8: Peer-reviewed edition.
Bîome D’
That’s what regulars at this south-campus staple call the Biomedical Library, which recently more-than-doubled its seating capacity from 64 to 150. Known for its all-you-can-cram buffet, the Student Study Space in Bîome D’ has scrapped its reservation policy in favor of drop-in hours on Sunday - Thursday for quiet, individual study (no group work or collaboration, for now). ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Le Housing
From their press release: “Housing is less of a place than it is a concept.” How ethereal. Unless you’ve been living under a rock recently (who could blame you), you’re likely aware that Housing has generated so much buzz that it’s become difficult to separate fact from fiction. For help navigating the admittedly immense menu (including on- and off-campus options, search tips, legal rights, and more), we hope you’ll join us for an informative Housing Webinar on May 27. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
triton & transit
When you’ve got a good thing going, it’s best not to mess with the recipe. Just ask the fine folks at transit, who’ve successfully executed this credo by providing reliable, accessible mobile fare for decades. While some establishments have waffled(!) over face-covering requirements, transit is dedicated to providing safe options for all Tritons – including those who are unable to be vaccinated or are immunocompromised. In accordance with TSA mandates, transit will continue to require patrons to wear masks on campus shuttles, vans and carts until further notice. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
ICYMI v1.0: It's cool, you (may have) missed it.
UC sees you, CDC.
When the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers guidance to the public, we take it seriously. CDC advice informs – but doesn’t supersede – university-specific policies. Since our campus includes a residential component, our occasionally stricter guidelines are necessary, and we're going to keep on keeping Tritons safer (peep those positivity rates) than the surrounding community.
Vacs or it doesn’t happen.
Of course, the newly-updated guidance (from CDC, State of CA, SD County or otherwise) for off-campus activities only applies to fully vaccinated folks. It’s going to be a busy summer, and exam week is just around the bend. Be a part of the FV conversation by dropping-in to RIMAC for your first dose before the supersite closes on June 1. After that, we’ll set up shop for your second shot in the Price Center.
ICYMI v2.0
Free, student-designed masks are still available for pick-up on campus.
