In this issue: summer this, summer that, and puns, oh my!
Week 7:All the antibodies edition.
UC sees you, CDC.
When the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers guidance to the public, we take it seriously. CDC advice informs – but doesn’t supersede – university-specific policies.
Since our campus includes a residential component, our occasionally stricter guidelines are necessary, and we're going to keep on keeping Tritons safer (peep those positivity rates) than the surrounding community.
Vacs or it doesn’t happen.
Of course, newly-updated guidance (from CDC, State of CA, SD County or otherwise) only applies to fully vaccinated folks, because science. Look, it’s going to be a busy (albeit cool, cool) summer, and fi**ls week is just around the riverbend. Be a part of the FV conversation by dropping-in to RIMAC before the supersite closes on June 1.
Speaking of summer plans…
Give Handshake a fist bump.
Although awkward should-I-or-shouldn’t-I knuckle knocks have replaced palm-to-palm handshakes for the last year-plus, Handshake continues to add summer work and internship opportunities the way fully vacced folks add antibodies.

Think of face coverings like sunscreen.
That is, if sun damage was infinitely more deadly and you could prevent others from getting burned by dolloping SPF on your own body. Not sure if you need to put on a mask? When in doubt, “wear” on the side of caution. In sunscreen and in life, it’s better safe than char-ry.
One forum the money.
And a slew of fora to show. To learn, develop, and share strategies that help with anything from coping with grief/ loss to getting a decent night’s sleep, we urge you to check out CAPS’ no-cost daily drop-in workshops and group forums. International? My Student Support Program is available 24/7, wherever you are.
Why de-clutter your inbox?
So that informative weekly gems (perchance, to dream) like WWL have some room to breathe. You can get one step closer to the utopian concept of inbox zero by ensuring that you stop receiving COVID testing reminders once you’re fully vaccinated.
How? If you got your shot(s) outside of UC San Diego (think CVS or your doc’s office), use MyStudentChart to send a message to “ASK-A-NURSE" in order to be exempted from the weekly testing requirement for unvaccinated individuals.
Be an IRLy adopter.
We hope you’re as excited as we are to see your faces IRL when in-person learning resumes next fall. We also understand that there’s a lot to process (for some, more than others) around the idea of connecting with each other face-to-face.
It’s never too early to start getting prepped for re-entry into “real life” on campus, especially if joining us requires international travel. Global Tritons, visit iupdates.ucsd.edu or contact ISPO for help navigating specific visa/ immigration challenges.
