| Jewish Women Helping Jewish Students at Hunter College |
The Women of Emanuel (WE) are spearheading an effort to create a group of sisterhoods across all Jewish denominations on the Upper East and Upper West Sides of Manhattan to tackle issues affecting the local Jewish community. WE are currently working on a project to help fund food insecurity amongst Jewish students at Hunter College. Whilst the Women were able to donate $2500, it is just a fraction of the cost to provide kosher snacks and meals to the many students who would otherwise go without.
"Working with other sisterhood groups across the Jewish community would go a long way to tackling this problem," says Dr Florence Milch, WE President. "This is the type of information we would hope to share with other local sisterhoods, so we could work together in supporting our Jewish community in need." WE look forward to working together to create this new entity. For more information about food insecurity at Hunter or joining the consortium of sisterhoods, please contact Bonnie at bonnie.eisler@gmail.com.

March Literary Discussion Presents Koshersoul |
Koshersoul by Michael W. Twitty
Sunday, March 30 at 7:30pm on Zoom
In Koshersoul, Michael W. Twitty considers the marriage of two of the most distinctive culinary cultures in the world today: the foods and traditions of the African Atlantic and the global Jewish diaspora. The question that most intrigues him is not just who makes the food, but how the food makes the people. It gives us an interesting look into the blending of culinary cultures in the most delicious way. It includes many recipes that you can try out as well.

World Zionist Congress - Get Out the Vote |
|
|
|
The World Zionist Congress election is coming soon, and you can make your voice heard in Israel. Please join us in helping to mobilize WRJ members and supporters to vote REFORM in this critically important election.
The World Zionist Congress is the Parliament of the Jewish People all around the world (of the 525 delegates elected, 200 are from Israel, and 152 of them are from the United States). Our votes have a direct impact on how Judaism is practiced in Israel and how much funding our Reform Movement in Israel receives.
|
|
|
By voting REFORM in the World Zionist Congress election, we can support our Reform Movement in Israel and our Jewish values of gender equality, pluralism, and tolerance.
Voting takes place from March 10 - May 24 of this year. Register here and vote REFORM. There is a $5 fee for processing. Voting is open to all individuals over the age of 18 who identify as Jewish. It only takes a few minutes to make our voices heard.
As for other countries like Canada and many others, Jewish communal organizations in these countries reached internal agreements instead of holding competitive votes. So do not worry Canadian sisters, your voice is being heard too.

News from Our Sisterhoods |
Wrongs and RIGHTS, an Art Exhibit on Women's Reproductive Rights
Kniznick Gallery at Brandeis University, Waltham, MA
January 26, 2025
A great turnout of forty women from eight WRJ NE Sisterhoods joined together for this event. We had time to meet and chat with others as we gathered in the gallery. Our docent led us through the artwork, providing information about the artists and the history around the creation of the pieces. In addition, there was time for feedback and questions. Various social events such as the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe vs Wade on June 24, 2022 frequently came into the discussion because the artists created pieces in response to the political atmosphere. The unraveling of RIGHTS and the USA was depicted in the artwork.
Included below are some pictures of artwork in the show.
