When friends and family asked about our recent trip to Japan, we found it difficult to sum up an experience so rich and perfectly balanced. From the moment we landed, the seamless organization, even without mastering the language, set the tone for an unforgettable journey.
Thanks to Bruce at Allora’Scapes, Rob and I felt completely seen and understood. Bruce took the time to learn about our interests—our love for relaxing Zen gardens and onsens, our excitement for vibrant nightlife, and our passion for food and cooking—and curated an itinerary that exceeded every expectation. Each day was a perfect mix of lavish hotels, cultural tours, bar crawls, and intimate moments that truly felt like “us.”
We explored the sprawling kindness of Tokyo, where we embraced the thriving LGBTQ+ nightlife and met warm, welcoming locals. In Kyoto, shop owners and taxi drivers went out of their way to connect and share their stories. Our adventures also took us to Nara, where we fed the famous bowing deer, and to the charming cities of Yokohama and Kamakura, with their beautiful gardens, museums, and hidden shrines. Some of our most treasured moments were simple yet profound: sipping warm matcha in a quiet bamboo grove, or the deep connection we felt during a cooking class and a spiritual kimono tea ceremony. A soothing rooftop onsen in the rain was another highlight, connecting us deeply to Japan's soul.
And the food! Each meal was a celebration, from lively izakaya nights to sublime sukiyaki tastings, culminating in a private, Michelin-starred kaiseki dinner that left us speechless. Our accommodations were equally exceptional, offering spacious rooms, city views, and amenities that made every evening feel like a special occasion. Their central locations made exploring a breeze.
Navigating Japan was a breeze thanks to Bruce’s thorough preparation and handy app recommendations. Throughout the trip, we felt safe, supported, and completely connected—to each other, to the places we visited, and to the wonderful people we met.

1) Business or First Class Passengers:
- Business Class: If you are traveling in Business Class on any oneworld member airline departing from LHR Terminal 3, you are eligible for access to the Business Class Lounge
- First Class: If you are traveling in First Class on any oneworld member airline (e.g., Cathay Pacific, British Airways, American Airlines, Qantas, JAL) departing from LHR Terminal 3, you are eligible for access to the First Class Lounge.
2) By Frequent Flyer Status
- Oneworld Emerald Status: If you hold oneworld Emerald status (e.g., Cathay Pacific Diamond, British Airways Executive Club Gold, Qantas Platinum/Platinum One), you are eligible for access to the First Class Lounge, regardless of your class of travel.

Great news for anyone flying in the U.S.! You no longer have to kick off your shoes at airport security.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has officially ended the long-standing policy requiring most passengers to remove their shoes during screenings. And of course, if you have TSA PreCheck, you've always been able to keep your shoes on!
This change is effective immediately at all airports nationwide. While most travelers can now breeze through with their footwear on, keep in mind that if your shoes trigger an alarm or you're selected for additional screening, you might still be asked to remove them.
