A Nested Meditationby Charlie Smith
In my daily prayer time, a go-to book on my shelves is Divinity in Disguise, Nested Meditations by Kevin Anderson. He describes a nested meditation as one in which each stanza contains the previous stanza and adds a single line that usually changes the meaning of the piece. The goal of a nested meditation is to let each stanza stand alone as its own statement or meditation. For example:
Be a leader.
Be a leader
Where you are.

Greetings Fellow Rotarians:
What a fun and exciting time I am having with my official visits to our clubs in 5750. I have now visited 29 out of 34 clubs! I had a wonderful steak and lobster dinner with the Stillwater Centennial Club. They conducted an impressive silent auction for Polio Plus. In addition, Service Above Self was in action at the Midwest City Rotary Club as I heard about the numerous projects that the club is doing. I also participated in the swearing-in ceremony of four new members. I am still amazed at the vitality of that club. Soon thereafter, I attended the energetic and civic-minded Midtown Rotarians where fun, food, fellowship and good works were in full display. What fun they are having while doing great service projects on behalf of Rotary. READ MORE

Rotary Magazine - December 2022
"I know malaria kills. And I know malaria can be cured." The words of a mother who lost a son. The words of a Rotarian who is helping lead the fight against the disease in Zambia. In this issue of Rotary magazine, we'll take you inside the campaign to expand access to lifesaving care in part of the world hit hardest by this preventable, diagnosable, and treatable disease.
Click here to read the December 2022 issue.
In another of this month's features, find out what people of action are reading in our year-end books list. You'll discover plenty of ideas and inspiration you can use as your club considers its next priority projects.
Elsewhere, find out what it takes to make it into the International Santa Claus Hall of Fame. Finally, there are so many reasons to attend the 2023 Rotary International Convention in Melbourne. We'll give you seven from fellow Rotary members in Australia. One of our favorites, at No. 5: You'll get your kangaroo fix.
Register for the convention now and pay in full by 15 December before the rate increases.

Rotary Club Dues Increase - Jan. 1, 2023 - A Message from President Wes
Fellow Rotarians,
At the Sept. 27 lunch meeting, we shared some news about a conversation that began over two years ago. Prior to the pandemic, it was clear to our administration committee, budget committee, and board of officers and directors that a dues increase would be necessary for the club to maintain a balanced budget. With the arrival of the pandemic, we were able to delay that conversation. As we’ve seen a return to normal club operations, meetings, and service, we’ve also seen an increase in almost every expense of the club due to inflation and we were forced to revisit the conversation. At the recommendation of our administration and budget committees, the 2021-2022 board of officers and directors approved a dues increase of $15 per quarter, or $5 a month, effective January 1, 2023.
