Fall registration time is here! Students, your registration time is available in WINS. To access the fall 2024 course offerings, log into your WINS account and navigate to “Classes & Schedules,” followed by “Class Search and Enroll,” and select “Fall 2024.”
Check your email for important advising information and contact your academic advisor for assistance in selecting fall courses. Freshmen can contact the Academic Advising and Exploration Center office at 262-472-4646 or make use of our drop-in advising hours for direct assistance. Celebrate the men’s wheelchair basketball national championship
|
Join us this Wednesday, April 3, at 3 p.m. to celebrate the Warhawk men’s wheelchair basketball team’s 2024 national championship! The Whitewater Fire Department will start a parade to honor the team departing from Lot 24 outside of Perkins Stadium and will travel south down Warhawk Drive, east on Starin Road, south on Prairie Street, and east on Main Street. After doing a loop around Downtown Whitewater, the parade will head back to Perkins Stadium via Fremont Street. Individual national champions Shelvin Garrett II and Christina Patzka of the men’s track and field team and Hayden Gough of the gymnastics team will also be part of the celebration.

Steve Flunker serves on the Dean's Advisory Board for the College of Business and Economics, which this year celebrates its 110th anniversary. Flunker attended band camp at UW-Whitewater as a middle school student. His experience stuck with him, and he became a Warhawk, earning his BBA in management computer systems in 1993.

Rashiqa Kamal, an associate professor of business and finance law, oversees UW-Whitewater’s new Women In Business Institute (WIBI). Her impact on students in the College of Business and Economics goes well beyond the walls of the classroom, and her lessons stay with the college’s alums for years after graduation.

| Grundahl named top student-athlete in Division III women’s basketball
|
Aleah Grundahl, an elementary education major from DeForest, who was announced as the winner of the 2024 Jostens Trophy, awarded to the top NCAA Division III women's basketball student-athlete in the nation. Grundahl is the first player in Warhawk women's basketball history to win the Jostens Trophy.

Kudos to Patty Becker, lecturer of communication sciences and disorders, who recently published “Engaging Preservice Teachers and Elementary Students in Author-Illustrator Studies” in the Wisconsin State Reading Association Journal online.
Kudos to Andrea Romero, associate professor of geography, geology and environmental science and biology, and Brian O’Neill, associate professor of biology, who co-authored the paper “Mammal responses to global changes in human activity vary by trophic group and landscape.” The article was featured in a recent New York Times article. Kudos to Pilar Melero, professor and chair of world languages and cultures, who delivered her scholarly paper “Medusa sin vestimentas’: Deshilando mitos en Diosas Prestadas de Ivonne Gordon” at the “XXXV Congreso Internacional de Literaturas y Estudios Hispánicos” on March 10-13 in Oaxaca, Mexico.
Kudos to special education faculty Ariana D’Arms, assistant professor, Malinda Forsberg, assistant professor, Naomi Rahn, assistant professor, Tia Schultz, professor, Courtney Wilt, assistant professor, and Brooke Winchell, associate professor, who led a preconference early childhood assessment workshop or presented at the 11th Special Education Conference and Workshops on Jan. 12 at Church Teachers’ College in Mandeville, Jamaica. The conference is the premier special education conference on the island.
Kudos to Tracy Khan, assistant professor of marketing, who is a graduate of the PhD Project, an organization that supports historically underrepresented business professors in their pursuit of a Ph.D. Khan earned a Ph.D. from the University of Rhode Island and was recognized at the PhD Project’s annual conference on March 22. Kudos to Gina Martin, assistant professor of counselor education, who has been selected as UW-Whitewater’s 2024 Graduate Teaching Award recipient. Martin will be recognized at the May Graduate Council meeting on May 2.
Kudos to Jennifer Regan, head coach of gymnastics and lecturer of kinesiology, who was inducted into the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Hall of Fame for her career as a student-athlete. Regan competed in gymnastics at Springfield College, where she was a two-time All-American and part of the school’s 1996 national championship team.
Kudos to Hayden Gough, a political science major from Dallas, Texas, who claimed a share of the national championship on the uneven bars to lead the UW-Whitewater gymnastics team to a runner-up finish at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championship on March 23 in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. University Health and Counseling Services, located in the Ambrose Health Center, offers free, confidential testing for sexually transmitted infections, including chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes, syphilis and HIV. STI treatments are available to enrolled students and their partners, including partners who are not UW-Whitewater students.
