For the 13th consecutive year and the 20th time overall, UW-Whitewater’s American Marketing Association chapter retained its status as International Chapter of the Year. Nine students and four faculty members turned in award-winning performances at the 2024 AMA International Collegiate Conference on April 11-13 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Help us create a culture of preventing sexual violence on our campus by being a part of It’s on Us week. This week-long event, held in the University Center concourse, provides awareness and prevention education. As part of the programming, UHCS Interpersonal Violence Prevention will host a special presentation by Michael Domitrz at 5 p.m. in Summers Auditorium on Thursday, April 25. Domitrz, an alum who was the 2023 May commencement speaker, will speak about consent, respect in relationships, and bystander intervention.
UW-Whitewater will have an impressive presence at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Eleven current or former Warhawk student-athletes or coaches will represent Team USA, and four other former Warhawks will compete for their native countries.
UW-Whitewater’s Department of Special Education, a program unique in the state with its mission to prepare professionals to become change agents in their support of individuals with disabilities and their families, has been named a recipient of the 2024 Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents Teaching Excellence Award.

Congratulations to the Warhawk men’s wheelchair basketball team, which claimed the 2024 National Wheelchair Basketball Association title with a 74-67 victory against Arizona in Saturday’s final! It’s UW-Whitewater’s 14th national championship in the program’s history!

The UW-Whitewater Campus Garden, led by the sustainability office under the direction of Wes Enterline, has been named a recipient of the 2024 Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents Diversity Award. The team will be recognized at this Friday’s Board of Regents meeting in Madison.
For the second straight year, UW-Whitewater will welcome Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes and coaches to campus for the State Summer Games. The event is scheduled to take place June 6-8, 2024. A fundraiser for the Special Olympics, the 25th annual Polar Plunge, will be held in Whitewater on March 9.
Terry Tumbarello, executive director of University Housing, won the William B. Sweet Distinguished Service award from the Upper Midwest Region-Association of College and University Housing Officers (UMR-ACUHO). Tumbarello, who is in his 26th year at UW-Whitewater, leads a team of nearly 500 people who serve Warhawk students.
More than 600 Warhawks received degrees Saturday at Kachel Fieldhouse. Proud family and friends gathered to celebrate the achievements of graduating students at the ceremony, which was presided over by Chancellor Corey A. King.
We are set to celebrate the achievements of our graduates at 10 a.m. this Saturday, Dec. 16, as proud families and friends gather for the 2023 December commencement ceremony. Approximately 620 students will cross the stage to receive their degrees. The ceremony, about two hours long and presided over by Chancellor Corey A. King, will be held at Kachel Fieldhouse in the Williams Center.
The UW-Whitewater Department of Music once again bestowed its annual gift of music and beauty to the campus and surrounding community on Saturday, Dec. 2. The concert, held in the Young Auditorium, raises funds for music scholarships as it celebrates the season.
Behind strong performances from current and former UW-Whitewater student-athletes, the Team USA wheelchair basketball men’s and women’s teams each captured a gold medal and punched their ticket to the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris over the weekend at the 2023 Parapan American Games in Santiago, Chile.

Angie Carchesi has shown impressive versatility and talent in digital media during her time at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She has won awards from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association and the Wisconsin Community Media for her TV and radio work. And now she has added a national award to an already impressive list of accolades.
First-gen students are proud trailblazing students whose parents did not earn a four-year degree. More than one-third of the Warhawks on the Whitewater campus and more than one-half on the Rock County campus are first-generation! The annual First-Generation College Celebration on Nov. 8 commemorates the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and promotes postsecondary access, retention, and completion for today’s limited-income, first-generation college students.
Warhawk Pride was on full display as we enjoyed "Once Upon a Homecoming," UW-Whitewater’s Homecoming 2023 celebration. We showcased our talent, enjoyed a bonfire with fireworks, strutted down Main and marked a day of victory in the George Chryst Memorial Bowl, with the Warhawks securing the Miner's Axe Trophy over UW-Platteville.
