Dear colleagues and friends,
As spring unfolds we are excited about the Wash U med school graduation next week and celebrating graduation of our finishing residents and fellows. We are also planning orientation for our new interns and fellows coming in June. This is a wonderful time to celebrate and share some of the Department accomplishments that have happened over the past few months.

We had a wonderful MATCH 2024 with an outstanding, diverse group of 66 medical students choosing our internal medicine residency. We look forward to welcoming them and having them become part of our WashU community. Mike Diamond, Professor of Medicine, Molecular Microbiology and Pathology and Immunology was elected into the National Academy of Sciences. On May 5, we held our Department of Medicine faculty awards celebration with more than 50 faculty being recognized for their accomplishments.
I hope you’ll take a few moments to learn more about the many achievements, awards and research happening in the department. The DOM newsletter highlights many faculty, staff and trainee contributions.
As always, thank you for your support of the Department of Medicine.
Vicky Fraser, MD, Adolphus Busch Professor of Medicine, Chair, Department of Medicine

ICTS-funded investigator conducts crucial research to better understand, diagnose, and treat rare genetic disease
|
Rare diseases are just what their name implies – each one affects a limited number of people. But with this rarity comes unique challenges, and among the biggest challenges faced by these patients are the roadblocks they encounter with gathering information about their conditions, being properly diagnosed, and finding the best resources and treatment options available.
