The Benefits of Attending a WRJ Convention |
Ever wondered what is it that you actually do at a WRJ Convention? Or wonder if there will be anything of interest to you? Northeast district member and co-chair of the Women's Advocacy group at Holy Blossom Temple in Toronto, Canada, Cheryl Sylvester shares her experience of attending the WRJ Social Justice Conference this past April.
Cheryl describes for us why she chose to attend this conference and her experience being a part of a panel discussion. It can be tough to explain why attending conferences can be so rewarding, and Cheryl did an excellent job of sharing things with her own sisterhood. Here is an excerpt:
|
"What could climate change with a gender lens, seeking justice for sexual violence victims on October 7, a musical concert with works by under-represented artists and supportive care kits for women who have had abortions possibly have in common? It turns out a lot!
"At the Marla J. Feldman Women of Reform Judaism Social Justice conference, they were in fact different faces of successful social justice programs created by four different WRJ women’s groups across North America, including our own here at Holy Blossom Temple...."

Convention Corner 2026 - We Need YOU!
|
We will be holding our 2026 District convention at the Sheraton Boston Needham Hotel in Needham, MA. It will take place on March 19-22, 2026. Our theme is Celebrating the Power of Sisterhood.
Creating and running the convention needs the help of volunteers from our district sisterhoods and women's groups. We are fortunate to include many talented and skilled individuals. The ways that you can help are numerous and each is essential. Some of the assistance is needed in-person at convention itself. Much of the assistance, collaboration, and support can be done remotely either prior to or immediately after the convention. Working with us to create a successful event is also a great way to meet new people and have a voice in what we do at convention.

At our annual members dinner, the Women’s Organization of Stephen Wise Free Synagogue collected sanitary pads for the National Council of Jewish Women to donate to women in need. We collect pads at other events as well.
We also logged on to the Religious Action Center and sent emails urging Congress to support reproductive rights. And we provided information on how to log on to support other advocacy action items such as women’s rights and healthcare.
