Back-to-School: Find Your Balance |
As summer winds down and schedules begin to fill up, the back-to-school season can bring new routines, added responsibilities, and less time for yourself. Whether you're managing school drop-offs, adjusting to a new routine, or simply settling into a busier season, it's important to make time for your own well-being.
August is National Wellness Month, making it the perfect time to build small, sustainable habits that help you protect your time, set healthy boundaries, and reduce stress. Even a few minutes each day to pause, recharge, or ask for support can make a meaningful difference. Research shows that establishing healthy routines and maintaining strong family and social connections can help ease the transition into a new school year and support overall well-being.
Looking for additional tips? Explore the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Parenting Toolkit, Student Toolkit and Back-to-School infographic for practical strategies to help you and your family navigate the season with greater balance and confidence.

Take Time Off for Your Well-Being and Review Your Vacation Balance |
If it’s been a while since your last day off, consider this your gentle nudge to start planning some time away. Your health and well-being matter.
We encourage you to prioritize your well-being by scheduling and using your available vacation time throughout the year. Taking time away from work to rest, recharge, and focus on the people and activities that matter most to you is an important part of maintaining your overall health.
As a reminder, employees who accrue and track vacation time in the GW Time Reporting System (TRS) and their managers have been asked to review and attest to vacation balances as of June 30, 2026. This review helps maintain accurate vacation records and provides you with a clear understanding of your available time off as you plan for the year ahead.
Access the GW Time Reporting System (TRS) to review your vacation balance and plan your time away. Please also complete your attestation in SharePoint to confirm that you have reviewed your vacation balance.
